چکیده
We propose a method for control of turbulence by modifying the excitation cascade leading to turbulence. The is based on asymmetric coupling between spatiotemporal modes non-Hermitian potentials. potentials are recently known enable unidirectional modes. demonstrate that such towards larger (smaller) wave numbers can increase (reduce) energy flow in turbulent states, and therefore, influence character study complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, universal model pattern formation wide range systems including nonlinear optical resonators. show enhancement or reduction indeed dependent imposed direction flow, controlled phase shift real imaginary parts temporal oscillation potential.

15 صفحه اولComplex Optical Potentials and Pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians
Recently some authors have broadened the scope of canonical quantum mechanics by replacing the conventional Hermiticity condition on the Hamiltonian by a weaker requirement through the introduction of the notion of pseudo-Hermiticity. In the present study we investigate eigenvalues, transmission and reflection from complex optical potentials enjoying the property of pseudo-Hermiticity.
متن کاملScattering theory using smeared non-Hermitian potentials
Complex, non-Hermitian potentials V (x) 6= V (x) can often generate the standard, normalizable bound states ψ(x). Unfortunately, the idea [based on the use of a nonlocal ad hoc metric Θ(x, x) 6= δ(x − x) in Hilbert space] cannot directly be transferred to scattering [cf. H. F. Jones, Phys. Rev. D 78, 065032 (2008)]. We complement and modify this result by showing that a return to the causal and...
متن کاملOn Scattering from Localized non-Hermitian Potentials
We highlight the conceptual issues that arise when one applies the quasi-Hermitian framework to analyze scattering from localized non-Hermitian potentials, in particular complex square-wells or deltafunctions. When treated in the framework of conventional quantum mechanics, these potentials are generally considered as effective theories, in which probability is not conserved because of processe...
متن کاملSupersymmetry-Inspired Non-Hermitian Optical Couplers
Supersymmetry has been shown to provide a systematic and effective framework for generating classes of isospectral optical structures featuring perfectly-phase-matched modes, with the exception of one (fundamental) mode which can be removed. More recently, this approach has been extended to non-Hermitian scenarios characterized by spatially-modulated distributions of optical loss and gain, in o...
